We're thrilled you're considering membership with the Gulf Coast Association of Black Journalists. Membership is available to journalists and media-related professionals as well as college students pursuing careers in the field of journalism and communications. Members include the geographic areas of southwest Alabama, southeast Mississippi, and northwest Florida.
Also, GCABJ is the local chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. GCABJ members will be affiliated with a progressive and professional organization that strives to unite journalists and media-related professionals and is dedicated to journalism excellence and diversity in news coverage and equality in the industry. As a member of the local chapter, you will affiliate with more than 4,000 members in the national association. Our chapter is assigned to Region 3 and has a director that represents GCABJ's interests on the national NABJ Board of Directors.
Membership levels include:
STUDENT: Student membership is available to college students interested in a career in journalism and communications. Student membership is $25.
ASSOCIATE: Associate membership is open to those with an interest in journalism and communications professions but don't meet the qualifications for professional membership. Also, associate membership is open to those who would benefit from the ability to network and associate with journalists and media-related professionals. Associate membership is $35.
PROFESSIONAL: Professional membership is open to working journalists, writers, public relations professionals or media-related professionals. Professional membership is $45.
